Michael Strahan Leaving Live To Join Good Morning America Full Time

Kelly Ripa is in need of another co-host. Live With Kelly And Michael is losing Michael Strahan, who is going to be full time on ABCs Good Morning America starting in September, as that show looks to shore up ratings against NBC Newss revitalized Today show.
The move ends Strahans four-year run as host of the daytime talker; since 2014 Strahan has joined the GMA team twice a week while co-hosting Live, which plans to kick off the search for a new co-host when the new season starts in the fall. In 2012, Strahan was nabbed to co-host Live after a 10-month search for a replacement for Regis Philbin. Strahan was named Philbins replacement after Ripa and producers kicked the tires on 59 guest co-hosts, though not all were serious contenders. Anderson Cooper, for instance, was happily employed at CNN, where hes now town-hall-ing the heck out of the 2016 presidential election cycle, though other names may show up again as reporters crafting Who Will Be Kelly Ripas New Live Co-Host lists hear from production sources, agents and managers.
GMA wisely is waiting until after Today takes center stage in the daypart during NBCs Rio Summer Games, during which its expected to unveil more changes as EP Noah Oppenheim continues to evolve that franchise.
This mornings news comes just over four years to the day since Strahan announced, on Live with Kelly and Michael, that he was taking the GMA contributor gig, while assuring Ripa and fans that his Live gig was his top priority: This is what I do This is me. This is my home. No matter what. I go nowhere. This is my love. You are my love. This is my job. So dont worry, anybody, Im not going anywhere.
But, a couple weeks ago, Today broke GMAs 108-week streak as No. 1 in overall audience. The day NBC News could boast that Today had won the weekly ratings race in both total viewers and the news demo, for the first since since 2012, it confirmed Willie Geists move to Sunday Today would start this past Sunday. Season to date, GMA is still the No. 1 morning program, taking the top spot at this point of the season for the fourth consecutive year.
This season Live With Kelly And Michael is the No. 1 entertainment daytime talk show in households (2.9 rating) and among women 25-54 (1.4 rating-tie). Overall, the show is second among syndicated talkers, behind only perennial No. 1 Dr. Phil this season. Live recently was renewed through 2020.
Strahan will remain a co-host of NFL On Fox; he began his career as TV on-air talent with Fox Sports, upon his retirement in 2008 from the NFL, where he played for 15 years for the New York Giants.

Verizon, Hearst Agree to Buy Complex Media (values at $250 mill to $300 mill)
The deal values Complex at $250 million to $300 million, according to people familiar with the matter. The companies announced the purchase on Monday after The Wall Street Journal reported they were nearing a deal.
Late last year, Hearst took an undisclosed minority stake in Complex, investing $21 million in the company. Hearst and Verizon will own Complex in an equal 50-50 joint venture.
The deal follows the two firms creation of Verizon Hearst Media Partners. It kicked off with the launch of two digital media properties aimed at millennials: RatedRed.com, a lifestyle channel aimed at young people in the heartland, and Seriously.TV, a comedy network focused on Politics. Both unveiled their first content this spring.
Earlier this month, Verizon and Hearst became investment partners in AwesomenessTV, a multichannel network targeting young women, along with majority owner DreamWorks Animation.
The Complex deal just makes sense, said Neeraj Khemlani, the co-president of Hearst Entertainment & Syndication. Verizon and Hearst have been trying to put together a strong portfolio of digital video brands for millennials.
Founded in 2002 by streetwear designer Marc Ecko, Complex began as a fashion magazine focused on skater and sneaker culture and has grown into a sprawling network of websites catering to young men.
The site on Monday included a video on Sneaker Shopping With Dez Bryant, and an article titled Kobes Last Stand. Its traffic was up 11% in March to 54.5 million unique visitors, according to comScore. Complex has been profitable since 2010, the companies said on Monday.
If you just step back and look at what weve announced in the past six weeks in partnership with Hearst, we are really diversifying our content approach here, with ownership stakes that will be a network of the digital brands of the future, said Brian Angiolet, Verizons senior vice president of consumer product and marketing.
The telecom giant has been working to cultivate millennial audiences as it seeks to build an inventory of digital publications and video sites where it can place targeted ads. It hopes to deliver those ads using ad technology it acquired with the purchase of AOL last year.
The deal includes an agreement for Complex to produce exclusive content for Verizons mobile video service go90, and AOL will be selling the ad inventory on that service, Mr. Angiolet said. Complexs current operations, including Chief Executive Rich Antoniello, will remain in place, he added.

Falcons draft Keanu Neal in first round
FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons, with an eye toward adding an enforcer to their defense, selected Florida safety Kenau Neal with the 17th pick in the NFL draft Thursday.
Neal was one of the fast climbers during the pre-draft process. The buzz around Neal and the Falcons grew loudest in the final days preceding the draft.
Neal was partially recruited by Falcons coach Dan Quinn before he left Florida to return to Seattle. Neal played special teams for the Gators as a freshmen in 2013.
Neal said that teams had told him he was a late first-round or a second-round pick. The Falcons are in need of a strong safety after releasing William Moore.
With the selection of Neal, the Falcons likely will pick a linebacker in the second round Saturday.
The draft world had Neal, a 6-foot, 211-pound strong safety, who was the Gators’ third-leading tackler with 96 tackles and he had an interception, rated differently.
Neal’s decision to pass on his senior season and enter the draft paid off.
NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock rated Neal as the third best safety in the draft behind Ohio State’s Vonn Bell and West Virginia’s Karl Joseph.
Nolan Nawrocki, a former scout, had Neal with a “second-to-third round” grade. “His cover skills are average,” Nawrocki wrote in the highly respected NFL Draft 2016 preview. “He is a big hitter, and that is what’s going to excite (scouts), but I don’t think he is a great tackler. He has size, but I don’t see him matching athletic ability. I’m not sure he can run.”

Former Fox News contributor Dr. Ben Carson will reportedly be included on presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trumps committee to handle the selection process of a vice presidential running mate. Fox helped launch Carsons own failed presidential campaign while he served as a network contributor despite the extreme comments he repeatedly made on the network.
Carson, who suspended his own presidential campaign several months ago, endorsed Trump in March. According to a May 4 report in The New York Times, Trump has indicated that he'll include Carson on his vice presidential selection committee.
Much like Donald Trump, Carson had a beneficial relationship with Fox News. As a network contributor, Carson was encouraged by Fox figures to launch his own bid for the White House. Sean Hannity hosted Carson on his Fox News show and asked him if he would ever run for president, then announced, "I would vote for you in a heartbeat." Carson even thanked Fox News in a 2014 speech for providing him a platform to push his own beliefs, saying, Wed be Cuba if there were no Fox News.
Fox frequently defended Carson during his presidential campaign, following Carsons lead and claiming that media were unfairly scrutinizing his past. In November 2014, Fox News reportedly terminated Carson's contract, yet the announcement came over a month after Fox News senior vice president Neil Cavuto told Carson on air, "I think you're running for office now."
Carson has a history of making extreme and inflammatory comments. He has claimed that the outcome of the Holocaust would have been different if the people had been armed, fabricated a story about being admitted to West Point, said he believes Joseph built Egypts pyramids to store grain, and comparedadvocates of marriage equality to pedophiles.

Afeni Shakur Set Up an Air-Tight Trust to Protect Tupacs Music
In March, there was speculation that Tupacs estate could be at risk, as his mother Afeni Shakur went through the process of divorcing Gust Davis, who was seeking half of all profits earned from it. The rap world was saddened on Tuesday (May 3) to learn of Afenis passing, but according to TMZ, she went through all the necessary steps to ensure that Pacs estate and legacy would be properly handled without here.
A trust has been set up to control all of Tupacs music rights, with Tom Whalley, the former head of Warner Bros. Records, named as executor. As TMZ reports, the trust is specific about heirs, with the money earned by the estate, close to $1 million a year, going to select charities and family members. Afeni was survived by her sister Gloria and daughter, Sekyiwa Shakur, who was likewise Tupacs half sister.
Davis is not mentioned in the trust at all, meaning that regardless of the divorce proceedings, Tupacs money and music will remain untouchable. Howard King, the attorney who represented Afeni, also worked with Prince, and said that while Prince hated dealing with paperwork and rarely listened to advisors, Afeni was the exact opposite, resulting in an air-tight trust protecting Pacs legacy.
