Chris 'Sources' Broussard Drops Free Agency Bomb On SportsCenter: Kevin Durant to War

To say that a particular team will be “going after Kevin Durant” this summer is like saying people will notice Amber Rose when she walk down the street in yoga pants. Of course every NBA franchise will be looking to add the dynamic 27-year-old former MVP. He’s one of the three best basketball players on the planet. But when you float the idea that there’s chatter regarding the reigning champs offseason plans and KD, your imagination begins to run wild.

Chris Broussard dropped one of his signature speculation bombs on “SportsCenter” Monday afternoon…

"People need to expand their horizons because, remember, when the cap going up to $930 million or maybe more, everybody essentially is going to have money. Not every team but the majority of teams will have plenty of money. Houston is going to make a run at him so several teams will try to make runs at him. but the one that really will shock people and this is what a few executives around the league have told me, golden state. wouldn’t that be something?

Golden State will have money. They would have to let Harrison Barnes go as a free agent, probably trade Andrew Bogut but they’ll have the money to go after Kevin Durant. They can have the money, and remember, a few years ago when they didn’t even have cap space, they went after Dwight Howard. so this is an ambitious front office that is looking, you know, to really turn this team into a dynasty and that’s certainly what it would be if Kevin Durant would go there.

Not everything at this point is speculative, but the point is there are many teams out there, more than the Lakers, more than the wizards, that are going to go after Kevin Durant — and so golden state could be one of them.

Whistleblower reveals multiple secret space programs concerned about new alien visito

A new whistle blower has appeared who is creating quite a stir in the UFO and exopolitics communities due to his claims of having worked with a number of secret space programs; and, more recently, having become a contactee with a powerful new group of extraterrestrials that have entered our solar system.

Using the online pseudonym GoodETxSG, the whistleblower (who announced yesterday that his first name is Corey and that he will soon end his anonymity) has described in interviews and posts on two major online forums his former covert background with a number of secret space programs run by various military, corporate and earlier human civilizations. He says that contrary to widespread perceptions in the UFO research community of a single secret space program belonging to a breakaway civilization, that there are in fact up to ten breakaway civilizations indigenous to Earth.

Each of these breakaway civilizations, according to GoodETxSG/Corey has their own secret space program. He says that there are currently three major secret space programs belonging to various national and international entities on Earth. One of these is a large corporate entity similar to what was described in the movie Avatar. The other two are multinational covert space programs that are similar to NATO in their manner of operations and activities. In addition, he says that there are between 5-7 secret space programs belonging to earlier breakaway civilizations on Earth including Nazi Germany, and another dating as far back as an astounding 500,000 years ago!

Adding another level of complexity to what is really happening with the various secret space programs, GoodETxSG says that off-world extraterrestrial civilizations interact or collaborate with one or more of these secret space programs. In a comment responding to the claims of another alleged whistleblower from a secret space program, Randy Cramer (aka Captain Kaye), GoodETxSG summarized the complex situation:

There are many who have been a part of the 3 Separate Secret Space Programs that are independent of the Secret Earth Governments (One of which is a powerful Interplanetary Corporate Conglomerate that owns most of the Mars Bases). There are also 5-7 “Ancient Earth Break Away Civilizations” that have Bases here on Earth. All of the groups mentioned above are “Allied” with various and different “Off World Entities’ and “UN Type Federations” both with the “Human Like ET’s” and the “Non-Human ET’s” (All with DIFFERENT AGENDA’s). There is also a “Shadow Civil War” going on among some of these Secret Space Programs and their “Off World Allies” to end control of the Secret Earth Governments using the “Babylonian Money Magic Slave System” to control Earth Humanity.

60k People Applied for this 260 sq ft Micro Apartment in NYC, Would You Rent It?

If you thought New York apartments were tiny before, you haven't seen anything yet. New York City's first "micro apartments" development — known as Carmel Place — is set to open in February, according to the New York Times.
Developer Monadnock Development first put forth the project — then known as My Micro NY — in a design contest held in 2013 by the city of New York. Under city law, dwellings must be no less than 400 square feet, but Carmel Place's 55 units — which received special permission from then-mayor Michael Bloomberg — will range from 260 to 360 square feet. The smaller end of that range is nearly half the size of the average studio in Manhattan, which currently sits at 550 square feet, according to a report by Douglas Elliman as noted by the New York Times.

Mondanock was allowed to build his microunits partially as a city experiment, and partially to satisfy the ever-growing demand for affordable housing — allowing the first modular prefab constructed building in New York City to rise in the Manhattan neighborhood of Kip's Bay.

Here's what they're like inside.

With this amount of space, you can't really expect a full kitchen. Instead, the kitchens are more like kitchenettes, the refrigerator is tiny and there's only a two-burner electric stove and no oven. There is, however, a built-in microwave.

Some of the spaces in the building are already furnished with a a pull-down bed, sofa, cabinets and tables. The market-rate units also include Wi-Fi and cable with the rent. Also included is weekly housekeeping by personal butler service startup Hello Alfred. The ceilings measure 9 feet high and the windows are rather large and slide open to a false balcony.

The bathrooms are big enough to fit a wheelchair, but there's no tub — a shower stall is all that fits.

The building's architects wanted the units to feel homey, and so there are also plenty of communal spaces including a gym, a basement lounge with a TV and billiards table, and a roof deck equipped with a grill.

The building is actually modular prefabricated houses — another first for the city. The units were built across the river in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and taken in Manhattan by truck.

The building will open February first. Leasing began in November for the 55-unit building and there have been 20 applications for market-rate units so far. Twenty-two of the units are designated as affordable costing up to $1500 a month, and 60,000 New Yorkers have already applied for them. The winners will be announced in January.

Texas ‘Cop of the Year’ exposed as member of Mexico’s most dangerous cartel

Caught on video illegally selling assault rifles and sensitive information to undercover informants, a former officer of the year has also been accused of secretly working for Los Zetas cartel in a drug trafficking conspiracy in operation since 2006. Although the cop allegedly provided the cartel with firearms, bulletproof vests, luxury vehicles, police scanners, and database access, recently filed court documents revealed at least two convicted cocaine traffickers are cooperating with the government against the disgraced cop.

On September 2, 2014, Efrain Grimaldo, the nephew of Houston Police Officer Noe Juarez, was sentenced to 33 years in federal prison after caught smuggling 1,640 kilograms of cocaine throughout the southern states and east coast. On June 24, 2014, Efrain’s brother, Sergio Grimaldo, was extradited from Mexico and later charged along with Officer Juarez for participating in a conspiracy to distribute five or more kilograms of cocaine. Juarez was also charged in a separate conspiracy to possess firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

In April, videos surfaced of Juarez illegally selling firearms and sensitive information to government informants posing as major drug traffickers. In March 2011, a hidden camera recorded Juarez selling assault rifles to an informant. A second video recorded in July 2011 revealed Juarez running license plates through the Houston Police Department (HPD) database for an undercover informant who told the cop that the plate numbers belonged to people who owed him $800,000 in drug money.

Juarez’s co-defendant, Sergio Grimaldo, pleaded guilty on September 23 and has begun cooperating with the prosecution against the former officer of the year. According to newly released court documents, the convicted drug traffickers have been participating in the conspiracy to distribute cocaine from New York to Louisiana since 2006. Besides providing firearms, pepper spray, bulletproof vests, luxury vehicles, police scanner radios, and sensitive information to Los Zetas cartel members, Juarez also allegedly attempted to release Efrain Grimaldo from arrest by another officer.

Fired from the department following his own arrest, Juarez claims he had no idea that his nephew was a member of the Zetas cartel. But as the evidence continues to pile up with undercover surveillance videos and co-conspirators testifying against him, Juarez appears to simply be another cartel associate who successfully infiltrated the Houston Police Department.

In September, Bullitt County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Mattingly was indicted for conspiracy to distribute more than a ton of marijuana. Mattingly has also been accused of working for a Mexican drug cartel and threatening to kill the captain of the Drug Task Force investigating him.

During the LAPD Rampart scandal in the late 1990s, more than 70 cops assigned or associated with the CRASH anti-gang unit were implicated in police misconduct, including unprovoked shootings, planting false evidence, excessive force, and theft. Subsequent investigations revealed that several cops, including officers David Mack, Rafael Perez, and Kevin Gaines, were actually Bloods who had infiltrated the LAPD in order to gain a tactical advantage over rival Los Angeles gangs.

A former car salesman reveals 4 tricks dealers use to get you to spend — and how to o

If you're looking to save money, big purchases can be a great opportunity to do so.

Unfortunately, when it comes to big-ticket items like a new car, most of us make mistakes and end up overpaying. The experienced and crafty car salesman doesn't help our cause, either.

We spoke to Scott Chesrown, who spent nearly a decade working in auto dealerships before transitioning to VP of Marketing at Vroom, a New York City-based car sales startup that brings the car buying, financing, and selling process online.

Chesrown shared four common tricks that car dealers employ to get you to spend more:

1. They start very low on the appraisal of your trade-in.

The first step in buying a new car is trading in your old one. Car dealers love to price your old car much lower than it is actually worth and assume you will start negotiating from the price they suggest, Chesrown tells us.

Don't get off to a lousy start by trading in your car for an unfair price. Do your research ahead of time, using resources such as Kelley Blue Book to determine exactly how much your car is worth. If you're armed with that information, you become the person controlling the conversation. "In today's world, buyers can hold the upper hand in the transaction," Chesrown says.

2. They get you in the door by offering low prices and then sell you something different (and more expensive).

Car dealers thrive on the classic bait-and-switch tactic. "Most tools online are geared towards getting you in the store because that's when car dealers have the most opportunity to sell the car," Chesrown explains. "The cars are right in front of you, it's usually a high-pressure situation, and these guys know how to sell cars. The stigma of the car dealer is still very much true in the industry."

What they'll do is tell you a great deal is available to lure you into the store, knowing that they can switch you on to a different, pricier car. Or, they'll tell you the "great deal" was already sold, and proceed to selling you something more expensive.

You have two options to overcome this trickery. You can call the dealership right before visiting and ask them to confirm that the vehicle is in stock. If they do, don't stop there — ask them to email or fax a signed statement indicating it's available for sale. Option two is to forego the dealership all together and buy online, or opt for a service such as Vroom, which can help you find a deal online and then deliver the car straight to your doorstep.

3. They try to sell you a bunch of protection services for your car that you don't actually need.

"By the time most consumers get into the financing process, they're exhausted," Chesrown tells us. Dealers will use that to their advantage, and try to extract more money out of you when you're fatigued and desperate to leave with a new car.

"They'll start throwing on extended warranties and different types of protection you probably don't need on your car," explains Chesrown. "People end up buying a lot of things that ultimately don't protect them."

To avoid this pitfall, make sure you know exactly what these additional items cover and then ask yourself if you truly need them. Most of the time, you'll find you don't need so much protection.

A common trick to look out for is tire protection. Often, you'll find in the fine print that you're only covered if a nail was found in your tire — any other damage not involving a nail will not be accounted for. Also, dealers may try to sell you an extended warranty that just covers their electrical system. This doesn't necessarily make sense, Chesrown explains, as modern cars don't have a lot of electrical problems.

This doesn't mean you should opt for the other extreme and forego all service contracts. "It is important to have a service contract," Chesrown tells us. "I'm a very big fan of extended warranties on cars — when they cover the right stuff."

4. They mark up the interest rate on the car.

When it comes to financing the car for you, dealers can make a lot of money by marking the interest rate up, and oftentimes, consumers are completely oblivious that they're getting ripped off.

"The perception of most consumers is that the interest rate came from the bank, which they trust" Chesrown tells us. "The interest rate did come from the bank, the car dealers just put more interest on top of it."

Customers with excellent credit (780 or above) should expect an interest rate between 1.49% and 3.49%, and customers with average credit should expect between 4% and 6%, Chesrown says. The range accounts for factors such as income, debt, and the amount you want to borrow.

While the best dealers will always try and get you a competitive rate, they will also typically start at a slightly higher range to hold back a percentage for profit. Chesrown's rule of thumb is that if a dealer is quoting you an interest rate for the first time, expect it to be 2% higher than what the bank is actually charging them.

"The best way to protect yourself is to learn what your credit is, and then talk to your bank directly about what you would qualify for and the interest," advises Chesrown. "That would then give you the ammo you need before walking into a dealership."

One final tip from the expert: Don't jump the gun and tell the dealer how much you want to pay per month before you're approved. "That allows the car dealer to pack your payment full of all the products if they can beat your monthly payment, which they can usually do by extending out the length of the loan," Chesrown warns.

Here’s 5 Things You Need to Know About Oregon’s Militia Movement

$
0
0
While the news of the Bundy gang forcefully taking over a federal building in Oregon may come as a surprise to some, the occupation is part of a larger pattern for those who have studied far-right political movements. Here are five points that provide a greater context for why this is happening, who the occupiers are, and who actually supports their radical viewpoints.

1. It’s actually a land grab — with guns
Despite the talk about supporting the Hammond family in Burns, Oregon, the takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge headquarters is actually part of a long-standing campaign by radical right-wingers to dismantle federal land ownership in the West. Some elected officials are working through mainstream channels to get lands transferred to state or county governments, or to allow them equal say over their use. But the Malheur takeover seems to be an attempt to spread a tactic of armed federal land takeovers. These armed groups are part of the “Patriot movement”—the successor to the 1990s militia movement—which has seen a rebirth since the election of Barack Obama in 2008.

2. The paramilitaries are powered by conspiracy theories
“Agenda 21” was denounced in at least one sign at the march in Burns that preceded the takeover. Agenda 21 is a non-binding UN resolution recommending sustainable ecological development. But it’s been turned into a conspiracy theory by the right, which sees a sinister global socialist agenda in things as small as building a local park. Patriot movement activists don’t see what’s happening to Dwight and Steven Hammond as an unusual-but-unfair legal case. Instead, they are portraying it as part of a socialist agenda to seize rural private land and drive predominantly white farmers into the cities. There, they believe the government will detain right-wing activists, seize privately held guns, turn the cities into concentration camps, and allow the UN (or China) to invade.

3. The ‘Patriot’ movement is a child of the White Power movement
Many of the tactics and talking points being used were popularized in the 1970s by the white supremacist group Posse Comitatus. This group promoted the “Christian Patriot” movement, advocated the formation of “Citizens Militias,” helped forge an idiosyncratic reading of the Constitution, said the county sheriff was the highest elected official that should be obeyed, and opposed federal environmental restrictions.

Over the years, these ideas took on a life of their own, even though few of the activists using these ideas today are ideological white supremacists. For example, they still try to recruit county sheriffs; the sheriff in Harney County (where Burns is located) was asked to provide sanctuary for the Hammonds from the federal government. He refused.

Activists such as Cliven Bundy’s son, Ammon Bundy (who is leading the Malheur occupation), claim that what is happening to the Hammonds is unconstitutional. This view of the Constitution is based on a position promoted by Posse Comitatus. They held that the Constitution could be interpreted by individual right-wing activists in a way that allowed them to have more jurisdiction than federal courts do. The Sovereign Citizens are the best-known movement that promotes these crank legal theories today. For example, Pete Santilli, who livestreamed the Burns march and went to the Malheur takeover, promotes these ideas.

The militia movement is all about white supremacy; that's why they want the removal of the federal government and want only state government. The reason why they want state government and not federal government, is due to the fact that they can go back to the old days of open racism against blacks. Just like in the south; it was the federal government that protected blacks against the white supremacist and it was the state government that was protecting the white supremacist and allowing them to kill and attack blacks with out any jail time.

The militia foundation comes from the Turner Diaries and in that book; the main focus is removal of the federal government, because the federal government helps protects black people ( a little). Cliven Bundy even expressed that after his stand off on his ranch, he talked about how blacks sould be put back on plantations and how he was driving through north vegas and saw blacks doing nothing and he said if we had plantations, these blacks would have something to do.

But the key thing is that the government likes the milita because if blacks get out of hand they can use them to attack black folks; those other militias are called the Oath Keepers. The Oath Keepers were out in full force in Ferguson during the protest. If the militia attacks black folks; the govt just can blame them and keep their hands clean.

4. Federal government policies have allowed this situation to happen
Although there is no written federal rule that is publicly known, those who study the radical right largely believe that the federal government has a policy not to directly confront armed right-wing groups. The disastrous handling of the Waco and Ruby Ridge sieges in the early 1990s apparently convinced the feds to take a softer approach. This seemed to have paid off when the Sovereign Citizens at the “Justus Township” surrendered peacefully in 1996. But after 9/11, even as the feds have cracked down hard on all kinds of radical political activity (for example, many eco-saboteurs who never killed or injured anyone were sentenced under terrorism laws), the radical right has received almost a complete pass.

The April 2014 standoff at Cliven Bundy’s Nevada ranch—when Patriot movement activists came to the aid of a radical right-wing rancher who refused to pay his fees for grazing on public land and trained rifles on federal agents—was taken as a green light for similar actions. The federal government has not prosecuted Cliven Bundy or his allies for anything that happened there. This has apparently convinced the Bundy family (three of whom reportedly are at Malheur) that the feds will acquiesce to armed takeovers.

5. There is widespread opposition to the Malheur takeover
The takeover attempt is not popular with many in Oregon. When a convoy of Patriot movement activists heading to Burns left from Bend, Oregon on Saturday, they were met with counter-protesters from the community. In Burns, many in the town have objected to the presence of the “Bundy militia.”

The Patriot movement groups are aware of this. A number of Patriot movement activists denounced any support of the Hammonds beforehand. The Oath Keepers, a national group, refused to come to the march, saying the Hammonds had not asked for help. Furthermore, the group said that Oregon members who helped organize the protest would be reprimanded. And, although details are not known, it appears that the vast majority of activists who are taking over Malheur are largely out-of-staters from Nevada and Arizona. While they hope to rally widespread support, that doesn’t seem to be happening.

Buildings at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge are seen near Burns, Ore., Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016. Protesters are occupying the refuge to object to a prison sentence for local ranchers for burning federal land.
